Tops, Tanks, and Tees KAL || Week 2

 I am still making good progress on my Gemini for luvinthemommyhood's Tops, Tanks, and Tees Knit Along. I finished my second skein of yarn after finishing the hip increases on the body and decided to put it on a stitch holder and begin the sleeves to maximize my yarn. I've finished sleeve number 1 and as I mentioned in my last post I've modified the sleeve to be fitted and worked a 3/4 length rather than the tee shirt length in the pattern. I've kept notes on my modifications if you're interested in how I changed the sleeves.

I'm hoping that the second sleeve leaves me with enough yarn to add some extra length to the body of this pullover, fingers crossed!

Tops, Tanks, and Tees KAL || Week 1

It's been one week since the official cast on for luvinthemommyhood's Tops, Tanks, and Tees Knit Along and I couldn't be happier with my progress! My needles have been on fire and I've burned through the yoke and a huge chunk of the body on my Gemini Tee.

I've made one minor modification to this top. I wanted to knit 3/4 length sleeves which requires the sleeves to be more fitted. Making this change was simple. I followed the pattern exactly as written, but stopped increasing between my sleeve markers when I reached 60 stitches. 

If you would like to make a Gemini with fitted sleeves here are some handy sleeve stitch counts to follow:

56 (60, 66, 74, 80, 88, 94) sleeve sts

Tops, Tanks, and Tees KAL || Cast On

Today is the official start date of luvinthemommyhood's Tops, Tanks, and Tees Knit Along! I normally sit out on knit alongs because of my workload but this time, I've found myself between projects while waiting for yarn to arrive and I am so excited to be able to participate! 

I've decided to knit another Gemini! Since the pattern was published I've seen so many amazing modifications to this top, it's inspiring and makes me want to knit it all over again with my own mods. 

I just happen to have 3 gorgeous skeins of Tanis Fibre Arts Yellow Label in Olive that would be perfect for this project! I plan on changing the sleeves to make them fitted and longer, 3/4 length is my plan. I'd like to knit until I run out of yarn because wasting any of this lovely stuff would be a crime. 

I've swatched in the round and I am bang on! Here I go!!!

HAPPY SPRING!!!

Count Down | VKLive

 Tomorrow morning my friends and I will be squeezing into my little Volkswagen and hoping on the ferry to attend Vogue Knitting Live! I'd always imagined having to scrimp and save to pay my way to NYC to attend this event so as you can imagine Shannon and I exploded into a happy dance the day they announced VKLive would be held in Seattle, just a stones throw from our fair city!

Will anyone else be attending VKLive this weekend? I'd love to run into you there!
